There are passages in the Bible that cause us to ask "How can I obey that?" I Thess. 5:17 is one of those passages. It says "pray without ceasing."
Sunday, April 3, at 11 a.m., we'll unpack this verse, and learn some practical ways we can "pray continually", which is how the NIV translates it.
I hope to see you then!
Keep on praying!
We invite you to meet with us tomorrow, Easter Sunday, at 11:00 a.m., as we celebrate the Risen, Living, Jesus!
When someone dies, people often wonder "what were their last words?"
We have a record of Jesus' last words. Actually, they weren't His last words, because He rose from the dead! But His words from the cross are some of the most significant and informative words He ever spoke.
March 6, 13, and 20, we will be studying those "Words from the Cross" at 11:00 a.m. at Open Door Community Church. You are welcome to meet with us for this study.
March 20 is Palm Sunday, and we will be commemorating the Lord's Supper at the close of our time together. You are welcomed to participate.
Imagine learning to pray from Jesus Himself! You can, you know! Beginning Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, we will be listening to Jesus as He responds to His disciples' request: "Lord teach us to pray." I welcome you to meet with us at 11:00 a.m. each Sunday over the next couple of months - it may well change your life!
Last Sunday was considered "Christmas Sunday." However, many people were out of town, visiting family or meeting other obligations. Still many others had to work that day.
Never fear - Open Door Community Church is celebrating Christmas again this Sunday, Dec. 27! We will be singing the traditional Christmas carols, reading Luke 2 together, and taking the Lord's Supper. We invite you to meet with us at 11:00 a.m. as once again we celebrate the greatest Story ever told!
Far too often, we are so busy during this time of the year that we lose our joy! I encourage you to block out Sunday mornings as a way to focus on what's really important - "God so loved the world".
Sunday, Dec. 20, at 11:00 a.m. we will be focusing on the message of Christmas - what's it all about? We will also be taking the Lord's Supper together.
Sunday, Dec. 27, also at 11:00 a.m., we will be looking at one of my favorite names of Jesus - "Emmanuel - God with us." It's easy to lose sight of that fact in the face of life's challenges - but it is still true today - God is with us!
I welcome you to meet with us this Sunday - or any Sunday - at 11:00 a.m. at Open Door Community Church.
SUNDAY, AUGUST 23, 2015
Beginning August 23, we will be studying one of the most well-loved chapters in the Bible: Psalm 23. David was a shepherd, and his beautiful description of how shepherds take care of their sheep will encourage you as you realize he's describing how God takes care of us! I look forward to sharing these insights with you each Sunday, beginning August 23, at 11:00 a.m. at Open Door Community Church.
